Backup WordPress or Joomla database with phpMyAdmin

It is a good practice…actually it is a must for all of you that use WordPress, Joomla or any other CMS to make database backups on regular basis.

The time will come when you will be saved only of you have your backups stored on safe place. I will show you how to make WordPress or Joomla Database with phpMyAdmin. More about phpMyAdmin you can find here.

Log in to you phpMyAdmin application.

Choose your Database, in my case it is “test3” Database.

Click on EXPORT

Now you have to select CUSTOM Export method. This will give you possibility to choose compression method.

Slide down until you find COMPRESSION in OUTPUT section . In drop-down menu select GZIPPED or Zipped if that suits you.

Slide down to the bottom of the page and press GO button. Save window will pop-up, choose SAVE and press OK.

That`s it! Your data is saved on your local hard drive. It is now up to you where you will keep it for later when you will need it.
