Change hiding file extension in Windows

By default file extension for known file types is on, meaning file extension is hided for well known file types. You ca do change for specific folder or to whole system.

Let`s change this setting. For this tutorial I have created directory with three files, originally with .txt extension (Slide 1.). Notice that non of the files have file extension. Well they have but hided.

Slide 4.

Now verify same files with hidden extensions. File extension visibility is changed. Files have .txt extension visible.

Change I made refers to specific folder. If you want to apply this change on every location go to Control panel – Appearance and Personalization – Folder option and select View tab. Uncheck same option and confirm.

This tutorial is applicable to all Microsoft operating systems. More about extensions find here.

I hope that this tutorial was informative to you and thank you for visiting this website.
