Change password length and complexity

These are very important security features on Windows and there is no doubt you have to implement both. Password length and complexity should be set to meet minimum security standards to protect you from data theft. Process is easy, just follow this tutorial.

Select Start and go to Control panel (Slide 1.). Then select Administrative tools (Slide 2).

Now, double click Local Security Policy (Slide 3) and then expand Password Policy section (Slide 4).

In Password Policy section you will find several options, but our aim is to change password length and complexity, so first double click Minimum password length. Default value is 0 but you shoult change it to more then 7 by my opinion. I changed to 9. Select Apply and OK (Slide 5 & 6).

Now enable Password must meet complexity requirements, buy double click section and select Enable (Slide 7). Select Apply and OK.

Job is done. Please be aware that since some PCs are not member of domain, thus domain policies can not be enforced on those PCs, you need to configure local policy which will affect only your local users.
