There is so many traps outside, when you choosing your future profession, especially when you are trying to create carrier in IT. When you are young, your interests are wide, thus you can easily make mistake in selecting career best path. Distractions and wanderings are common mistakes. A key role could play someone who can see your potential. One more thing: despite my claim regarding your wide interests, don’t be afraid to explore.
My first advice is read a lot. It can’t harm you. It will broaden your perspectives and you will probably find some areas of IT more interesting then you though before.
Explore! Try programming. One of biggest fallacies is that you have to be math genius to be programmer. Try administering Windows or Linux. Install them on your PC or virtual platform and play with them.
Watch or read tutorials. You can learn lot. It will help you find out how to do something, thus will help your find true interests.
Educate your self. It can be expensive, but definitely worth. By this point, you already find your interests and you are sure about your future career. I strongly believe that you can came to some point with self studying, but from some point you need help from trainer, you need look from inside.
Definitely, if can start working as some kind of help desk or technical support, you will shorten the time needed to identify your interests and you will learn more quickly.
