Create MySQL database using Webmin

We already created tutorial for creating MySQL database using CLI and we already talked about Webmin. Now I will merge those two themes and I will show you how to create database using Webmin.

First go to Servers and select MySQL Database Server (Slide 1.). You will see all databases already created. Now select Create a new database.

On next page type Database name and then select Character set (Slide 2).

Then select Collation order (Slide 3).

This is the point where most of people make mistake. You can not select any collation and connect to any Character set.

If you make mistake server will not create database and send you back error like following:

Failed to create database : SQL create database `it_tut` character set armscii8 collate big5_bin failed : COLLATION 'big5_bin' is not valid for CHARACTER SET 'armscii8'

If you are not sure which collate is valid for which character set please consult this link.

Finally select Create button in order to create database.
