Plugins for WordPress are extensions, that gives you additional functionalities for your website. There is a huge market of plugins for WordPress, some of them are commercial but there is a lot of free plugins. I will show you how to install and activate plugins for your WordPress installation.
Start your web browser and navigate to your loging page for example www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin.
Login page will open. Enter your administrator Username and Passwrod and press Log In.
On the left bar navigate to PLUGINS and select ADD NEW
Browse through selection of plugins or if you know the exact name of the plugin you can enter name of plugin into search field.
For this example I will install “TinyMCE Advanced” that enables the advanced features of TinyMCE, the WordPress WYSIWYG editor.
Enter “TinyMCE Advanced” without quotes into search bar and click on “TinyMCE Advanced” when search is finished.
Pop-up screen will open. Click INSTALL NOW.
Download and installation process will start. When finished click ACTIVATE PLUGIN, plugin will be activated and you will be re-directed to plugin page where you can see all your installed and active plugins. Check for “TinyMCE Advanced” in the list. It should be there.
The process of plugin installation is finished. Now you can start to use your plugin.
