WordPress is a worlds most popular Content Management System (CMS). This application is an online, open source website creation tool written in PHP, and it’s probably the easiest and most powerful blogging and website CMS in existence today. Easy means: easy to install and easy to maintain and use.
Many famous blogs, news outlets, music sites, Fortune 500 companies and celebrities are using WordPress. The good thing is that it is totally free for usage, and with this CMS you can really create very powerful websites and applications. Lets learn first step – installation of WordPress. It is really easy and fast process, but there is some preparation steps to do before you start with installation. First you have to create database, for this process you can read our tutorials “Create database using cPanel wizard” or “Create database using PHPMyAdmin” depends of your hosting.
Let`s assume that you create your MySQL database and get start.
First you have to download WordPress installation package from WordPress website. Download latest version and upload it to your Public_html directory (in case that you install on your public hosting). Unpack ZIP package. It will unzip into separated “WORDPRESS” directory, go to “WORDPRESS” directory and select all files and folders in it and move all files and folders to root public_html directory (out of WORDPRESS directory). Now we are ready to start with installation process. Open your web browser and navigate to www.yourdomain.com and WordPress installer will give you option to choose language.
Click CONTINUE and next screen is informational screen, click LET`S GO
Now we get to the important step. Here you have to enter your Database name, Username, Password and Database host in order to connect WordPress with your MySQL database that you create earlier. Be careful, if you enter wrong parameters installation will be stopped untill you correct mistakes.
If everything goes well in previous step you will see next screen where you have to press RUN THE INSTALL button at the bottom.
Next screen is also important and here you have to enter SITE TITLE, USERNAME (this is administrator username for administering your WordPress later), PASSWORD and your e-mail address. Fill all this fields in the form and press INSTALL WORDPRESS.
And that`s it! WordPress is installed.
After this you can click on LOG IN and you will be redirected to login page of your brand new website powered by WordPress!
