Install MySQL on Linux server

Usually when you are attempt to install some tool or CMS, there is the wizard which is installing MySQL among other tools. But when you develop applications on your server you need to install database by your self. It`s quite easy.

In order to install MySQL logon to your Linux server and type following command:

sudo apt-get install mysql-server

In next few steps wizard will guide you through simple installation process.

On first step provide your password and confirm installation by typing Y on prompt.

Next step is to provide password for MySQL root user as I did on slide 1. This is administrative user.

Upon installation is finished you should see notification stating:

mysql start/running, process 2619

In any time you can verify your service typing following command:

sudo netstat -tap | grep mysql

OK, I admit, there is several more ways of installing MySQL database and some of them are described here, but I like this most.
