Install VirtualBox Additions in Linux Kali

Why Kali? Well, no reasons. I have installed new version of Linux Kali on my VirtualBox and as always I could`t expand view to full screen. Old story. You need to install VirtualBox additions. Problem is in fact that different Linux distributions use different repositories and that installation process in different from distro version to version.

In order to install VirtualBox additions on Kali Linux (Debian) first you need to change sources.list file. On Kali Linux you are almost always logged in as root so you don`t need to use sudo, but you need to change directory with cd .. .Go to following location using nano or vi.

root@kali:/# nano etc/apt/sources.list

Add following line.

deb http://http.kali.org/kali kali-rolling main contrib non-free

Now save file.

Requires that you use the latest, Kali Rolling.

Next step is update and additions installation.

root@kali:/#apt-get install update
root@kali:/#apt-get install -y virtualbox-guest-x11

-y switch will confirm installation instead of you. Only thing left to do is restart. You can do it over GUI or witch following:

root@kali:/#shutdown -r now

After restart you will have your full screen.

I hope that this tutorial was informative to you and be free to comment and give us feedback.
