Install Webmin on Linux

Well, Linux administration can be tiresome and I know a lot of people who gave up on Linux regarding this. Webmin is  best thing that happens to Linux in ages. Webmin has turned Linux administration into something that is not harder than the administration of the website. It is web based interface for Linux system administration. Install Webmin and go, you will love it.

To install Webmin on Ubuntu server first update repository source list. Type following:

sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list

Now on bottom of source.list add following lines and save:

deb sarge contrib
deb sarge contrib

Now use wget in root directory to get GPG key. Type following:

cd /root
apt-key add jcameron-key.asc

As always no you are at point when you need to update source list:

sudo apt-get update

You are ready to install Webmin. Syntax is standard.

sudo apt-get install webmin

If you use Fedora or Fedora like OS (I made my installation on Korora) type following to download Webmin, dependencies and install application:


yum -y install perl perl-Net-SSLeay openssl perl-IO-Tty

rpm -U webmin-1.791-1.noarch.rpm

After installation start browser on you PC and i address bar type https://your_linux_ip:10000

Default user and pass are the same as your Linux account.

Now you will be able to administer any aspect of your Linux serve with no trouble.
