Location based Wi-Fi on Android

After years and years, battery capacity is still `sore point` for most Android devices. Very rarely you can find device whose battery have sufficient capacities to support all peripherals and features for more then day and half or more. One of the largest battery consumers is WiFI interface. Here is one trick with location based Wi-Fi, how to save some battery power.

Do we really need to keep WiFI interface on all the time? When you driving through suburban or rural areas, where you are sure that there is no WiFi signal, your interface just draining your battery.

This tutorial is about how to mange your device to turn on WiFi interface only when saved network is available. Go to device Settings and then slide down to Power management and select option (Slides 1 & 2).

On Power management page turn on Location-based Wi-Fi (Slide 3).

Now your WiFi interface will turn on only in the presence of known wireless network. Thus some amount of battery capacity will be saved.
