Release/Renew your IP address from Command prompt

Sometimes you have to renew your IP address in your network. There is a quick method how to do it from Command prompt.

Of course, there is a renewing method using Local Area Connection settings, but we will discus about it some other time. This process is common for all functional Windows editions, desktop or server.

Let`s start:

1: Open Command Prompt(cmd) By Pressing Combination of Windows key + R to open run box and type in “cmd” and hit Enter.

2: Verify your IP address by typing ipconfig /all and notice that you have inappropriate address, or even APIPA (Automatic Private Internet Protocol Address). Now that your Command Prompt is ready, type in ipconfig /release then hit enter. By executing those commands you released IP address.

3: Now again type in ipconfig /renew and hit enter. This will renew your IP address,  by starting process of discovering DHCP server on network. Remember, your TCP/IP settings on NIC must enable usage of DHCP.

4: Close the Command Prompt

By typing ipconfig /all verify IP address lease from DHCP allong with other parameters.
