Screen lock on Ubuntu desktop

Screen lock is definitely feature you have to use in order to secure your data. This feature combine few Windows settings in one window. It is easy to configure, but a lot of people used to Windows environment, looking for this setting on wrong places.

Now, go to Start section and select System Settings… (Slide 1).

Under All Settings select Brightness & Lock (Slide 2).

Under Brightness & Lock you can find several options. Some of them depend of each other. First define time of inactivity before your screen turn off. Then, would you like to lock your screen or not and then after what action to lock screen. On the end select password necessity on wake up. Almost the same as it is on Windows, right?

You are done with this feature. Please be aware that deselecting password necessity is security issue and someone can access your device without your knowledge.
