Upgrade Windows Phone 8.1 to Windows 10 Mobile

Windows 10 Mobile for Mobile devices is finally officially launched. After long period of waiting and numerous Technical Insider preview builds, Microsoft decided to roll-out new Operating system to older Windows  Phone 8.1 devices. Those customers who already have newer Lumia phones like Lumia 950 are already upgraded to this official build and they don`t have to do anything.

There is a official list of eligible devices that are ready for upgrade:
Lumia 1520,
635 1GB,
636 1GB,
638 1GB,
BLU Win HD w510u,
BLU Win HD LTE x150q,
MCJ Madosma Q501

Keep in mind that upgrade process is divided in several waves and that some devices are in first wave of upgrade, and some devices are in 2nd or 3rd wave of upgrade. Also, if you buy your Windows Phone via contract with your cellular operator, there can be delays in upgrade and this depends solely on your Mobile Operator and their decision when OTA update will be available for your mobile device.

Here is how to upgrade:

I recommend to make backup of your data before you start process of upgrade

First you have to download additional application called “Upgrade Advisor”, you can download it to your phone from here . Install it on your phone and start it.

When Update is finished go to All Settings->Update & Security->Phone Update and press Check for updates.
